NHS Choral Ensembles

Choralettes
(Grades 9-12)
Choralettes is the entry-level women's ensemble open for any Nutley High School student in any grade level. In this beginning ensemble, members will receive valuable training and practice in sight-reading, building vocal tone, and mastering proper vocal technique.

This ensemble will perform at every NHS choral concert and will be part of various social events held throughout the academic year.

In the future, Choralettes will remain open to any NHS high school student. Students who have not had prior experience in choir may be required to be a member of this ensemble for at least one year before being recommended for Concert Choir.

Concert Choir
(Grades 9-12)
This intermediate ensemble is open for students who have had prior musical experience. Students receive placement into this ensemble by recommendation only. All members will strengthen existing sight-reading skills and polish proper vocal technique, which will enable students to meet the demands of accelerated
ensembles at this high school.

This ensemble will perform at every NHS choral concert and be featured in select events. Members of this ensemble are expected to maintain good grades and serve as representatives of our school and its choral program.

In the future, this ensemble will continue to serve students who have had prior experience in choir, and placement will be determined based on recommendation only.

Chamber Singers Honors
(Grades 10-12)
This elite chamber ensemble is for students who have superior musicianship and place a high level of dedication to choral singing in their lives. Students receive placement into this ensemble by audition only.

All members will strengthen existing sight-reading skills and polish proper vocal technique, which will enable students to meet the demands of this accelerated vocal ensemble.

In addition to fulfilling all community performance requests, this ensemble performs at every NHS choral concert, and is considered to be the exemplar of musical excellence in the program.

Members of this ensemble learn and perform their own repertoire as well as that of concert choir. The expectation is that members maintain good grades, serve as representatives of our school/program and display a heightened level of artistry.

In the future, this ensemble will continue to serve students who have had prior experience and excellent musicianship. Placement will be determined by audition only.
